Dr. Steven E. Stemler is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Wesleyan University. He received his doctoral degree in Educational Research, Measurement and Evaluation from Boston College, where he worked at the Center for the Study of Testing, Evaluation, and Educational Policy and the TIMSS International Study Center. Prior to joining the faculty at Wesleyan, Dr. Stemler spent four years at Yale University where he was the Assistant Director of the Center of the Psychology of Abilities, Competencies, and Expertise (PACE Center) and an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Psychology. His area of expertise is in the assessment of non-cognitive factors, with a special emphasis on the domains of practical intelligence, creativity, intercultural competence, and ethical reasoning. Dr. Stemler is a past president of the New England Educational Research Organization (NEERO) and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Aspiring Minds, India – the largest personnel selection company in the country. He consults regularly with organizations throughout the world on how best to develop innovative assessments to measure student aptitude, ability, and achievement as well as school climate. Dr. Damian Bebell is an Assistant Research Professor at the Boston College Lynch School of Education, where he has conducted research and evaluation activities at the Center for Study of Testing, Evaluation, and Educational Policy for over a decade. Dr. Bebell is also a senior research associate at the Technology and Assessment Study Collaborative (inTASC) where he designs and conducts studies on the impacts of computer technologies on teaching and learning. Dr. Bebell continues to collaborate with developers, researchers, school leaders, policy makers, and educators around the world to provide expertise and assistance in the use of next-generation research, assessment, and evaluation tools.
